Formula Recall

Yesterday was a VERY exciting day--I got my first Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer :)

The best part is, we didn't have to pay for it! Gotta love credit card points!

Today was spent taking care of Addy's formula recall. Pretty much all of the formula powder in plastic containers was recalled-exactly the formula powder that Addy uses. The company said that their ready made formula was the substitute for the powders, but that is a problem for 2 reasons: 1) WAY more expensive 2) we are still using extra powder in her bottles to make them higher calorie. I called the GI doctor, and she said that it would be completely fine to substitute with Enfamil, so that's what we did. I got about $48 in refund money and I was able to get the Enfamil pretty cheap with coupons :) Other than that, Addy slept a lot of the day and was in a pretty good mood. It may have been the last hot day of the year too! It got to 91 and was pretty humid, but tonight we are supposed to have storms and then tomorrow will hopefully be gorgeous!

Crabby

Sorry I haven't written the past 2 days-Addy has been extremely cranky, but we may have figured out why. The nights before, she went to bed at 9 and Josh woke her up at 5:30. Last night, she was asleep at 8:15 and was in a better mood most of the day. I am having trouble getting her to take long naps, since she gets hungry. She has taken a few 5oz bottles 2 days in a row now, so that is an awesome victory :) She also ate quite a large bowl of cereal today too. We'll see how tomorrow goes!

Happy 5 Month Birthday!

Addy keeps getting bigger and bigger, though not as fast as her friends :) She seems to be getting chunkier, especially this past week, since we've been increasing the calories in her bottles. She still fits well in her 3-6mo. size clothing. She is pooping once a day again, sometimes with it being more solid - she's growing up!! Now that she is almost completely on formula, it has gotten stinky! She also is eating 1 tablespoon of rice cereal each day.

Some of Addy's favorite things to do are: sucking on her toes, pet and chase the puppy dog, play hand/song games, grab for toys, stand on people's laps, scream like a teradactyl, twist around when she hears noises, sit for up to 3 seconds on her own, and chew on celery sticks. She is still sleeping 9-10 hours at night, but enjoys falling asleep in her bassinet by herself. Walks outside are also a favorite of Addy's, as well as shopping.

Cute Baby

Today we successfully got through the whole church service-no poopy diapers, no teradactyl baby, just cute, mostly quiet baby! Then we went to Panera and came home to hang up pictures and a shelf.

Last night, we let the baby lay down in her crib to rest a little before bed, when all of a sudden we heard a very strange slurping noise. We go over to check on Addy, and she has both feet in her mouth and is slurping loudly on them....so funny! She did the same thing with her hand in her mouth during church-loud slurping :)

Also, a story from a few days ago: Addy was sitting on daddy's lap during dinner, doing one of her most recent favorite things-chewing on a piece of celery. This was a very long piece of celery, as her hand was in the middle of it, and she was chewing on one end. Toby came over to see what is was she was chewing on, and started to smell the other end of it. Soon, he very carefully put his teeth on the end of the celery closest to him and carefully slid it out of her hand, before running away with it. Addy just watched him do it, no crying, just a studying look. Josh and I just started laughing-it was sooo funny! The same thing happened tonight with a piece of paper Addy was playing with. Toby is so gentle when he comes up to steal things, it's so adorable! So far, he's only done it when we are at the dinner table. He's not allowed to touch her toys, and he does pretty good with that :)

Go Colts!! Addy loves the 1st down dance that we do when the Colts get a first down! Toby loves doing his touchdown dance for treats, so the game was a good one for everyone!

More Sitting

You can't tell in the picture, but Addy was sitting without me touching her at all, even with my legs. She can sit without her hands sometimes for about a full second!

Friday we had our bible study group. There were a LOT of kids there, right around 15! There were so many kids we couldn't even do the craft. But Addy did like the songs alot. She even continued singing after the goodbye song. She was sitting by herself in the blow up pool with plastic balls in it, so when we got home, daddy took this picture of her, still doing good with her new trick :) Then, after a few hours at home, we went to the balloon glow at Forest Park.

We went to Charlene's house and we all rode together-Charlene and mommy in front, and Brady, Maddie and Addy in the back. We had a rough time with the babies on the way there-no one wanted to sit in traffic, and they let us know. Then we had a long walk before we got to the balloons. They were really pretty! Then we ate a picnic dinner and watched the fireworks, before the long walk back home. All the while we were at the balloons, daddy was at the Cardinals game on the MVP deck. Free food, free beer and an awesome game-Cards won 14-4! We all got home late and we were all tired, except of course, for Addy. Finally she relaxed and we all went to bed.

Today was very boring - just cleaning and napping. IU won though!! Woo hoo 2-0!

Playtime

Wednesday was a pretty normal day - just playing and then grocery shopping. We did find pumpkin at the store though, so we stocked up :) Addy is a pretty smart baby though. While she was having tummy time, she figured out to pull on the blanket in front of her to pull the toy that was just out of reach closer. She was supposed to be practicing scooting, but instead she was practicing her brain ;)

Thursday was pretty boring too. We did some cleaning and playing. Daddy went to Columbia for work and then went to happy hour. Addy and I were supposed to go for a walk around the lake with a friend, but she canceled on us last minute :( So we just went for a walk with Toby.

Rolling Away

Today was very busy-playing that is. This morning Addy was having some great tummy time. Toby and I were laying down with her, and Toby was keeping her attention on other things :) She can lift her legs up along with her arms, a little bit Superman style. She also straightened out one of her arms even! After all that work, she had a nice long nap and I was able to get all the laundry done and get the ball rolling on our landscaping project.

This afternoon, Addy and I went downstairs to play. I was trying to convince her to roll over by putting one of her favorite toys in a place where she needed to roll to her stomach to reach. She kept getting close, but one arm would get stuck under her, until finally she did it! She stayed on her tummy for a little bit, until she didn't like it, and pretty quickly got herself rolled back over to her back. Shortly after that she was back on her tummy and then rolled over onto her back, off the blanket and gave me a big smile-4 rolls at once :) and of course this happened about 15 minutes before daddy got home. He missed it again...

During dinner Addy had some rice cereal, then she needed a bath, and then we even had time for a walk and blowing bubbles, which Toby enjoyed eating. Such a busy, fun day!

Something I forgot to mention yesterday - Addy showed her first signs of stranger anxiety yesterday. Just a warning, in case she isn't very happy while we are on vacation soon.

Doctor Visits

Milk Drunk....

Today Addy and I went for a walk in the gorgeous morning we had today. Then we went to the GI specialist doctor to check her weight. According to their scale, she gained 5 oz, which is right on track with what she was at last time, 10th percentile. She is now 12 lbs. 4 oz. We are going to continue feeding her extra calories in her bottle, even though she just doesn't eat as much. We are also going to start doing rice cereal every night, to help control her spitting up. She's still on her acid reflux medicine, but hopefully at 6 months we will be able to start weaning her off of that.

After the doctor, we went to Subway and back to daddy's work to visit and eat. Then Addy and I went to her normal doctor, just to see what her scale would say. What do you know-she was 12 lbs, 6 oz (she had a bottle during this time too). So who knows-everyone is on the same page now. Both doctors are happy, Addy seems to be feeling better (not spitting up anymore and still a happy baby) and so mommy and daddy are happy. They also measured her length while we were there - 25.5 inches, she's in the 75th percentile for that! Tall and skinny-Josh thinks she should be a basketball or volleyball player. But with our basketball skills, she will definitely be playing volleyball ;)

After dinner, we went for a walk and then tried to give Addy some cereal. She wasn't interested tonight (the picture above was from Saturday). Now the whole family, except for me is asleep....it's 8:30. Wow...

Normal Weekend

Friday was a pretty normal day, just cleaning up the house and working on our quote for the yard-we are very close to making a decision and making our yard usable!

Saturday started with a beautiful walk through the next neighborhood, checking out their garage sales. Josh went to the eye doctor in the morning and found out he has a corneal ulcer. His eye has been a little sore lately when he wears contacts all day, so he went it to have it checked out. There is a little blue spot on the white of his eye that may be there forever, but other than that, a few days rest from contacts should be all he needs. He'll go back later this week to make sure. Then, when daddy got home, we had Addy's 2nd bowl of cereal. It was much thicker, and she did great with it. Very messy = extra cute. Then after a bath, we ran some errands around town and started looking at couches for the basement.

BBBBUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!

Today was the big day-Addy's first Colts game. We made wings and sweet potato fries, and celery, which is Addy's favorite. She loves to "chew" on celery, and it's really funny to watch when it leaves her mouth, and she's trying to get it back in. She tends to hit her chin, and then get frustrated. After the Colts game, we watched the Rams for awhile and worked on the basement. We've gotten almost all the cords cleaned up down there, and soon we can decorate and put our new couch down there, but first we have to find one we want. Tomorrow we go to the doctor to check on Addy's weight. Hopefully it's good news!

Starting to sit

Today was pretty unexciting. Addy's been pretty quiet today. She usually comes to wake me up in the morning, but today she sneaked up on me and scared me awake! She was especially giggly today while we played hand games and stretched. She is continuing to work on her sitting-very cute. We made dinner tonight-it took 2 1/2 hours, and then it didn't even taste good. :( Rachel Ray, I thought you would make a delicious dinner - not so much. We made a stuffed shells-type dish, but the spinach in it made it very gross. We have lots of leftovers though, so if anyone has any ideas on how to cover up the taste of the spinach in it, please let me know!

Beautiful Day

Today's weather was beautiful. Addy got mommy up extremely early so that daddy could go to the gym. Then we went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was much cooler than our walks usually are, mid-60s, so Addy needed a sweatshirt. She seemed to enjoy wearing something new (see above!). Addy slept a lot again today, I guess she's still catching up from this weekend? Once she finally woke up, we went to the grocery store; she loves looking at everything. She also enjoyed ripping and "eating" a coupon I wasn't going to use. We went for a nice long walk with daddy after dinner and now it's sleepy time for everyone.

Fun Weekend

What an exciting long weekend! After a nice long drive on Sunday morning, we met Aunt Katelyn and her friend Chelsea at Katelyn's new apartment. Then we went out to lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise, where Addy wanted to play with everything on the table! Then we went back to the apartment and got ready to go to the wedding. We drove out to south Indy and went to Brooks' outdoor wedding. Then we went inside for the reception. It was so exciting and noisy, it made it hard to get a nap in, but eventually Addy fell asleep for a few minutes. She enjoyed dancing and playing with things on the table. After cake, we went back to the hotel. Addy seemed to sleep ok, but mommy and daddy didn't sleep too well. Addy is much too noisy of a sleeper and that made it hard on everyone!

Monday morning, we met up with Aunts Katelyn, Ally and Maddi for yummy breakfast and swimming. Addy did not enjoy her first swimming experience-I think the water was too cold. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jUr0ZQUosA&feature=youtube_gdata

After swimming, we got ready and went back to Aunt Katelyn's and threw a "surprise party" for Grandma and Grandpa. Then we all went to Cheesecake Factory and back to Aunt Katelyn's to play more with Gia the kitty. Then we drove all the way back home, with only a short stop to get a little crying out :) Then we all went to bed!

Yesterday was filled with tons of laundry and tons of bottles to wash from the weekend and lots of playing with the puppy we all missed. Addy peed on daddy last night when he was trying to change her, so he gave her a bath, all by himself for the first time. Once she can sit up, it will be a lot easier to give her a bath with only one person doing it. That might not be too far off either!

Fun Time

Yesterday was a fun day. First Addy and I went to Little Lambs, a bible study group for kids who are younger than school age and their parents (mostly moms). Addy played with a little boy named Conner and even participated in craft time (the craft was spy glasses-decorating a toilet paper roll. She chewed on hers, but she enjoyed it!) She was even ready for a bottle at snack time! Then she was passed out while mommy ran a few errands. We came home, vacuumed out daddy's truck, and then after dinner, Addy and daddy went to Bass Pro to buy shotgun shells, while mommy took the puppy for a solo walk.

Today, daddy went shooting with a friend from work. Addy and mommy played all morning. Then we vacuumed out the car, swept the garage floor, put the basement back together, went for a walk, gave the baby a bath-all kinds of things to keep us busy! The past 2 days we've had the windows open all day-its been wonderful! I wish this could be the weather for a few months, instead of just a few days!

Causing trouble

Addy's main view of her favorite big brother.

Yesterday was a pretty normal day. Addy and I went to Walmart and Sam's Club (for formula and diapers-what else!) and then came home. We attempted to go to the neighborhood ice cream social, but as soon as we got the stroller set up, it started pouring down rain, so we didn't go. Instead, we went to Oberweis to have ice cream for dinner instead-it was a delicious anniversary dinner. Then we came home and got the baby put to bed. After about an hour, she started crying, which is very unusual for her. I went to check on her, and she had rolled herself over into the corner of her crib. I think when I rolled her back over, it really scared her, because she had been a little quieter, but then started screaming. It took her about 10 min in daddy's arms to calm down and we were able to put her back to bed. About half an hour later, I went to check on her, and again, she was upside down but this time was asleep. I very carefully rolled her over, but since she was out, she didn't move once I got her situated. I checked on her again in the middle of the night, and she was right where she originally was, so we all had a restful night after all.

Today was group nap morning :) Then Addy and I ran some errands and went to the mall for a nice walk. It would be a perfect place for a walk, if the market research people weren't trying to attack you when you walked through their section! Then we made a delicious dinner for daddy and had a bath before Addy went to bed. Hopefully she sleeps well tonight.

Talking to Addy has become very difficult-if she is in a talkative mood, it's very hard to get a word in. She steals the show! She loves petting Toby, though I'm not sure if she is trying to pet him, grab at him, or he's just the closest thing to her all the time. She also has a new favorite toy, pictured above, her bear she got from a friend of mine from work. It's silky, makes noise, is similar to a burp rag (another favorite toy of hers), and can be put in her mouth. Hopefully we don't forget to bring it on our road trip!
